Challenging Gardening for 2023 – help is at hand…..
2022 was an ‘interesting’ year for the weather, and for our gardens.
We’ve suffered droughts, floods and snow – creating quite a nightmare for gardeners. What will 2023 offer?
So far it’s started on a chilly note. But the snowdrops are starting to poke up their heads, so Spring will be with us sooner than we know. Gardening can be a huge delight, and great solace for hard times. But also frustrating – especially when things die on us! So, meeting up with others in the same boat can be a boon. If you love gardens and gardening; enjoy learning about others’ gardens; love sharing your ideas and your plants; and would like to find out and ask advice about what grows best locally, then the Marlborough Gardening Association (MGA) may be for you. There is a lovely pink climbing rose called “Generous Gardener” – that could be the motto for many of our members.
Members of the MGA meet throughout the year at 7pm on the second Wednesday of the month in the Town Hall (except for a couple of months mid summer, when they assume you’d prefer to be out gardening). Every meeting has an excellent speaker on a variety of gardening topics, full of interest for active and armchair gardeners alike, and the opportunity to mix with other members over a cuppa and share our love of gardening.
Members receive a monthly online newsletter, and can go to an annual lunch, on several day trips to wonderful gardens during the year, and a weekend away in the summer. There is a very popular plant sale every May – a good opportunity to stock up on supplies, and to donate any surpluses you may have. And members also get 10% discount for many items at TH White. All this for an annual subscription of only £10. All meetings will be listed on marlborough.news, click here for details of the March meeting. Why not come along to a meeting and give us a try? Non members are welcome to come to any meeting for £3 and then, if you would like to join, this is deducted from your annual membership.

Stay safe, warm and well this winter
