Columnists - David Chandler

David Chandler was born in Marlborough and started his working life in the family saddlery business of Fredk J Chandler.  He was the seventh generation of his family to be a saddler. He had a career change in his 40’s and taught in schools in England and finally in Swaziland.  He retired to Marlborough twelve years ago.  He was one of the last Mayors of the former Borough of Marlborough in 1971.  The Borough was absorbed by Kennet District in 1974 and Marlborough became a ‘Town’
