Marlborough St Mary’s CE Primary School are celebrating the success of their girls’ and boys’ football teams at county level. The boys’ team have been crowned Wiltshire County Champions and will go on to represent Wiltshire at the regional finals. The girls’ team were close runners up in the county final.

Kirsty Miles, Marlborough St Mary’s PE Coach, told Marlborough.news, “The boys worked well together and topped their group to play the runners up from the other pool. This was a very tense semi-final as it was 1-1 at full-time and went to penalties which Marlborough St Mary’s won 6-5. We then played in the final which was end to end football. All players communicated and worked well for each other and the final score was 2-1 to us and we were crowned County Champions! We now go onto represent Wiltshire at the Regional Finals.
On a cold and frosty Tuesday morning our girls’ football team travelled to Wiltshire FA in Devizes where we played in the Football County Finals. We won all 4 games in the group stage to put us through to the semi-final. The girls played brilliantly and won to go on to play in the final, narrowly losing 1-0.
Last Friday Marlborough St Mary’s hosted the Cluster Dodgeball Festival where around 80 children played in two pools. After playing in the play off and the final, Marlborough St Mary’s teams finished 1st, 3rd and 5th and qualified for the County Finals to be played later in the year.
Friday afternoon saw our children in Oak Class play in an in-house Kurling competition; all of the children had great fun playing against each other. This also leads to the County Finals later in the year.
I am very proud of each and every child who has represented Marlborough St Mary’s. Every child worked so hard both individually and as part of a team, showing great passion and determination.”
