Juliet Singer’s work in charity and much more has been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list by the award of an MBE for her ‘services to charity and the community’ – Juliet Singer MBE.
Juliet started STOP (Trafficking UK) a charity dedicated to working to assist the victims of trafficking in this country. Before that she served as the Head of Liaison at the charity Missing People. She has also devoted time and effort to help and improve literacy and education in prisons through her volunteer and trustee roles.
In the past decade she has dedicated herself to Devizes’ KFR – Kennet Furniture Refurbiz – which is there to help those who are in need of furniture and appliances in their homes, and who otherwise would never be able to afford such items. Juliet has been both volunteer and Trustee of KFR, and in the words of KFR Managing Director, Daniel Thompson, “Juliet’s help as a trustee has been huge for our growth as KFR, as well as for me as a manager. Juliet has been instrumental in some of the key moments that have helped us grow as a charity such as organising our first TV interviews and helping us reach a much wider audience. Juliet has been with me since I started KFR and has become so much more than a trustee and colleague, I’m proud to be her friend.”
But in her earlier years, at the start of her career Juliet was a model for Mary Quant. And then went on to work at Sotheby’s and Christie’s fine art auction houses, the knowledge and experience gained there being particularly relevant at KFR.
We congratulate Juliet on not just her award, but on everything that she has done, created and delivered en route to that recognition.
