Danny Kruger MP was caught on camera not wearing a mask on his journey from Hungerford to Paddington on Friday September 18. Passenger Edie posted the photo and Tweeted on September 19 “Danny Kruger, the Tory MP for Devizes not wearing a mask for the entire Hungerford to Paddington train journey yesterday. Don’t blame it on the young people Boris when your own party aren’t even following your rules.”
Danny Kruger has apologised and has today said that he will donate the fine of £100 to NHS Charities together. He published the following on his Facebook page.
“Since the picture of me not wearing a mask on a train last week was tweeted I have, understandably, received a number of emails and messages asking why this happened. It was a simple mistake made in an almost empty carriage: I just forgot I should be wearing a mask, and once I realised my error I covered up for the remainder of my journey. I sincerely apologise for my mistake and for the annoyance it has caused to so many who have been closely following the rules. Travelling on public transport without wearing a mask can carry a £100 fine and I’ll be donating this amount to NHS Charities Together which supports NHS staff in caring for patients throughout the United Kingdom, and especially during the coronavirus crisis.”
