On the evening of Saturday 25th November thieves stole 5 potted Christmas trees worth a total of £284 from the grounds of Preshute Primary School. The trees had been loaned by Dobbies of Hungerford for the Preshute School Christmas Fayre which was organised by Preshute Primary School Association(PPSA) and held on the afternoon of the 25th.
Natasha Staples, PPSA Co-Chair said, “We are disappointed and devastated that someone in our community would do this to a primary school. The trees were out of sight and behind a locked gate so it must have been someone who knew they were there or who told someone about them. Who would do this to a primary school, especially with school budgets being so tight? The Christmas Fayre was fundraising for new playground facilities for the school.”
Flo Hanson, also PPSA Co-Chair, set up a Just Giving page to raise the £284 cost of the missing trees. The PPSA have been heartened by the response as the money was raised within 2 hours. Flo commented, “Thank you so so much to those that donated. What a wonderful community we live in.”
The crime has been reported to the police and the school are appealing to members of the public to let them know if they have seen anything suspicious by emailing preshuteppsa@gmail.com.

UPDATE – The fundraising for the stolen trees has allowed the PPSA not only to pay back Dobbies but also to buy a potted tree to brighten the school now and for Christmases to come
