Many in our area may know Colin Herber-Percy as a Vicar, especially those who attend church in Savernake, and many may know Colin as an author. But on Saturday 4 July everyone will have the opportunity to meet with Colin – in a church, St Peter’s Church in Manningford – but primarily in his role of author when he will be hosting a book talk and signing of his recently-published second book.
Lost in the Forest: Notes on not belonging from the English countryside – Colin’s latest book – will be the focus of the event which includes a glass of wine.

Previously a curate in the Vale of Pewsey, Colin is now a vicar in the Savernake team as well as a screenwriter and author.
His first book, Tales of a Country Parish, became a bestseller in independent bookshops for its delightful blend of rural anecdotes and spiritual reflections.
His second, published in February, takes a more personal approach as Colin invites the reader to join him on his daily walks in Savernake Forest, musing on the nature of belonging – or not. Visiting the mighty oaks of the forest many of us know so well, his rich mix of local stories, universal wisdom and gentle humour reveals that ‘not fitting in’ is liberating rather than something to fear.
Tickets for the event are £10 including refreshments and can be purchased via the Manningford PCC Bank Account – No: 01724232 / sort code 30-92-63 / and please use the reference “LOST”. Or scan the QR code below to create a link to website. Organisers also ask that when making the payment, can you please confirm the booking to the e-mail address below:

If not possible to book in advance by the above method, just turn up but organisers are looking to get some idea as to numbers who might be attending. St Peter’s is a small but beautiful church and this event is in aid of the church fabric fund.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a glass of wine and the event runs from 7.00-8.15pm which includes the talk, a Q&A session followed by book signing. There will be managed parking close to the church.
