MantonFest will be here again on Saturday next week (30 June). Great bill of national/local favourites – Katrina of the Waves will be Walking on Sunshine, Quo, or more precisely John Coghlan’s Quo will be reminding us (of a certain age) why we spent so many hours ‘Rockin’ all over the World’. And Marlborough talent such as rising star Ed Witcomb will be showing us what’s next. And the weather forecast is….. good (at this stage, anyway).
“All set for a wonderful day” exclaimed organiser Roger Grant. ”Ticket sales are very strong, even better this year than in the years before” he added. ”It will be a superb day for all the family with great music, a wide range of food and drink, and, hopefully, plenty of sun! Won’t just be ‘Walking on Sunshine’, more like ‘Dancing in the Sunshine'” he optimistically forecast.
Alongside Katrina of the Waves will be John Coghlan’s Quo – John being the original Status Quo drummer from their golden period of hit after hit, The Swinging Blue Jeans, still going strong after many years and returning to MantonFest for a second appearance, ‘Whole Lotta Led’, widely acclaimed as the best Led Zeppelin tribute band around and representing the local acts will be Ed Witcomb, Barrelhouse, Empty Gestures, Harry Miller band and Skedaddle.
Ed Witcomb will be performing through all the changeover intervals following the Barrelhouse set and he will be supported by ‘Emily’s Pole Fitness’ troupe, performing a pole dancing display.
The day will be kicked off by the Harry Miller Band at 1pm and closed by Katrina at 11.15pm.
