
U3a in Kennet and Marlborough College are holding a ‘Special Interest Study Day‘ at the Memorial Hall on the subject of ‘Global Tipping Points’ on 15th September 2025. Open to all – students, members of u3a and anyone else who wants to her some enlightened and expert views on a range of issues confronting the world – i.e. us. You will be welcome.
The strong line up of speakers will consider some current critical world issues from a variety of perspectives: politics: global and national, climate change, the use of words and language as well as Artificial Intelligence and health issues.
Speakers will include:
- Jonathan Dent – Senior Editor, Oxford English Dictionary
- Professor Sir Muir Gray – Senior public health physician and pioneer in healthcare
- Heidi Venamore – Chair of Council Marlborough College, geo-strategic adviser specialising in the Middle East and former Australian Government Diplomat
- Professor David Waltham – Professor of Geophysics, University of London
- Dr Jeremy Wyatt – Emeritus Professor of Digital Healthcare and Chair of the British Computer Society’s AI in Healthcare group
As noted above the event is open to u3a members and non members, but registration is required and there is a cost – £20 for u3a members (£15 without lunch) and £30 for non members.
At present the registration deadline is Monday 1 September, but this may be extended.
