Has watching ‘The Hundred’ opened your eyes to cricket? Maybe it has, or maybe that a game of cricket is exactly what you want as a social, enjoyable (and competitive!) form of exercise. OK, ‘The Hundred’ takes that just to another level altogether, but it is the same enthralling game. Marlborough Cricket Club will welcome you with open arms.
It’s a bit early yet, but that’s when you need to start. Marlborough Cricket Club are looking to establish a 3rd team for next season.
This will be a mixed (male/female) development team, playing hardball cricket, built around young players (typically 13+) who are comfortable playing hardball cricket and want to play full 11 a-side league cricket on Saturdays.
It will allow them to develop their game in a supportive environment, where they don’t need to worry about results – just enjoy their game while developing their skills, playing alongside and learning from more experienced players.
You don’t need to commit to playing every week, though we would need good availability over the course of the season to play in the club’s fixtures.
In addition to cricket, the club offers many social events and a welcoming environment, where you’ll make new friends, new memories and have fun. As a new member you’ll also receive a free club match shirt too. Cricket is a very social game, that’s why the communities of many village and small towns revolve around the green where the game is played. To many, it’s a part of life.
Marlborough are also also investing in new equipment and facilities, and can provide you with cricket equipment if you don’t have your own. Coaching is also provided too, so come and join the Club.
If you’re interested, the club would love to hear from you. Contact Marlborough Cricket Club at marlboroughcc@gmail.com
