First Great Western has announced a full investigation- and ticket refunds – to 500 passengers who were stranded for hours outside Pewsey station.
The 11am Penzance to Paddington train broke down at lunchtime on Sunday and arrived at Paddington five hours and 40 minutes late.
Passengers complained that the train’s food supply ran out within an hour and the toilets became unusable.
First Great Western said a delay of such magnitude was “unacceptable” and promised a full investigation.
