On Monday 11 May at the Kennet Valley Hall in Lockeridge the Kennet Valley Parish Council will be holding their ‘Annual Meeting’ and encouraging residents from the Parish to ‘drop in’ – to meet the Councillors, talk about any issues that they regard as important, and have a cup of tea and a biscuit (or two?).
The Annual Meeting starts at 6pm but for an hour before the start residents will be welcomed to spend a bit of time engaging with the Council. What does ‘engaging’ mean? To find out more about their Council – what it does on a day-to-day basis, how it manages and deploys its (small and limited) budget to greatest effect, what people like about living in the area and about any challenges that they face. In summary, whilst the Councillors may be there to ‘know’ about what happens in the Parish that they represent, it’s impossible to know everything that matters at any time so this is way for Councillors to understand more about their area. And maybe learn about some issues that could become priority. An opportunity for both Councillors and residents alike.
And they are bribing residents to take the trip up to the Kennet Valley Hall with the offer of tea, coffee, biscuits and maybe the odd soft drink…..
Then the Annual Meeting itself. Stay for that, Marlborough East Councillor Jane Davies will be there as well to answer any questions, from Councillors and residents, as will a representative from Wiltshire Police who will be addressing the issues of crime prevention in the area.
