An evening with singer/songwriter Andrew Rumsey – part of ‘History Live’ at the Merchant’s House

24 April @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Blank Arcades is the third in this acclaimed triptych of albums-in-a-day recorded in historic Wiltshire churches. With Grammy award-winning sound engineer Katie May (MPG Sound Engineer of the Year, 2025) again at the faders, Blank Arcades sees the same team (David Perry on guitars & church organ, Cameron Saint on double bass and Louis Spanton on percussion) reunite in atmospheric All Saints, Yatesbury, close to the Avebury stone circle, to perform sixteen new songs on a single summer’s day.
A year on from its predecessor, Collodion, Blank Arcades draws on themes of impeded progress and the ‘entrances to nowhere’ implied by the album title, a nod to Andrew’s interest in ancient churches. ‘When you sing in a place like this, the walls join in’.
Enjoy this one man show with Andrew, Bishop of Ramsbury; a great storyteller, singer and musician.
The Merchant’s House is thrilled to present History Live, a week-long festival celebrating history in all its forms. This inaugural event promises something for everyone: from engaging lectures and a walking tour of Marlborough to visits to Wilton Windmill and Shaw House.
History Live invites visitors to step back in time, explore local heritage, and experience history in a dynamic, interactive way. Organisers hope this marks the start of a landmark annual event for Marlborough.
