In 2019 we were in the Devizes constituency. Now, thanks to a realignment of constituency areas we are in East Wiltshire. A differently constituted area – Devizes has now moved away (to join Melksham) whilst the new East Wilts accommodates the Chiseldon and Wroughton areas in the North, (previously Swindon South – but Devizes before that) and also Amesbury in the South.
At the last General Election in 2019 Danny Kruger (Conservative) was elected to the former Devizes constituency, results below:
| Candidate | Party | Votes | Share | Change from previous election |
| Danny Kruger | Conservative | 32,150 | 63.1% | +0.4% |
| Jo Waltham | Liberal Democrat | 8,157 | 16.0% | +6.7% |
| Rachael Schneider Ross | Labour | 7,838 | 15.4% | -5.6% |
| Emma Dawnay | Labour | 2,809 | 5.5% | +2.3% |
How the Boundary Commission changes will affect – who knows but the likely difference is probably not substantial. There is a ‘notional’ calculation of the above 2019 result – click here to link to the House of Commons Library site which gives an estimate, the main difference being that second place would have been reversed although the difference (in both scenarios) is not large. But it’s winning that matters.
Below is a list of all the candidates standing in this election (in alphabetical order). To find out more about any candidate click on their pic to visit their page which tells you (in their own words) why they believe that you should vote for them. All their own words, we (Marlborough.news) make no recommendation.
Some of what’s there has been taken from their respective website but most have responded to our request. All we would ever say is that whoever is elected, they should represent you and everyone else in our East Wilts constituency, irrespective of party allegiance or for whom they voted. The winner is there to represent us all. And that means listening, acting on and dealing with the issues that may affect us at any time.
In summary, they should be the Marlborough / Pewsey / Amesbury / Chiseldon (or wherever) representative in Westminster, rather than the Westminster representative in Marlborough / Pewsey Amesbury / Chiseldon (or wherever). That will be their job………
We will all have the chance to meet and to question all of the candidates at St Mary’s Church on Tuesday 25 June at 7pm. There will be a Hustings, organised by Marlborough Churches Together, and chaired by Keith Fryer
All Welcome

Possible Colour / Identity confusion
Both Reform UK and the Conservative Party are using very similar shades of light blue. Many ‘Danny Kruger’ signs / posters may easily be mistaken for ‘Stephen Talbot’ signs, and vice versa especially if seen at a distance or when driving past and not able to read the actual name. Or at times when light conditions are anything but perfect.
Traditionally in elections the colours of the competing parties are noticeably different. The Conservative Party have long used the blue of the Union Jack, or a near shade of that blue. The Reform UK blue is marginally ‘greener’, nearer to a ‘bluish turquoise’. But not very different to that shade used by the Conservative Party.
For this General Election – not so. Does this imply other similarities? Not for us to comment or speculate. But to help clear any confusion the respective colours are shown below:
