I’m Pete Force-Jones, an assistant teacher, runner and cricketer, of sorts!
Personally, I am frustrated with (largely right wing) culture wars – I believe they serve no useful purpose and do nothing to tackle the array of crises the people and our country have been left facing after years of political failure- they simply aim to divide us. Equally, I am outraged by a stale, outdated political system that has enabled (if not necessarily encouraged) bad behaviour from those in charge who should be leading by example. That is why, as a local, I am standing for the new True & Fair Party in East Wiltshire.
Whether it is to see active policies to improve the state of our rivers, and our environment (our party backs the Climate and Nature Bill), the pay and working conditions of our key workers (I am a signatory to the Pledge for the NHS) the lives of people working in our largely rural communities, to support those deprived of support during the worst of the Covid pandemic, to finally get an expanded, scheduled public transport system that boosts physical links between our towns and villages, or to create an economy that works for the people offering opportunities to both old and young alike, the True & Fair Party believe we deserve and can do better.
The next 5 years will no doubt set the path for the UK as we prepare for the 2030’s – we need to ensure the country is in good shape for the challenges ahead. I’ll work with others aiming to bring back opportunities and freedoms lost because of the poor Brexit deal. Our youngsters (and no longer so young) deserve the same access to the opportunities across the UK , they and our businesses deserve the access to our continent that we once had.
I would urge people to think carefully before casting their vote, please don’t simply get swept up in the tried, tested (and repeatedly failed) mantra offered by the main established parties.
In this area, each election, we hear the familiar claim from the big opposition parties:
“Only we can beat the Conservatives here”… perhaps you are as unsurprised as I to see we have the same claims being made this year! For those living in the parts of our constituency once in Devizes or Salisbury, who have witnessed a century of Conservatives MPs (some better, some worse) we know from experience these claims have thus far failed to implement a change.
I am not going to tell you who you need to vote for, nor claim that ‘only I can win here’ – that decision is ultimately up to you, the voters. You are more than capable of choosing for yourselves.
If you want change, please consider which party and candidate it is that offers the policies you like most, which candidate and party you trust to stick to those promises and who it is that offers our constituency, our country and our planet the type of future that you will be happiest living with.
I would urge you to go out and vote positively for whoever you think can best bring about the change YOU want to see, if in doing so you choose to lend your vote to me, Pete Force-Jones, the True & Fair Party candidate for East Wiltshire I will promise to work my hardest to serve you, the people of East Wiltshire, our country and our planet as best I can, thank you for reading.
