Oliver Lang – Labour Party

I run my own locally based small business, advising businesses and trade organisations in the media industry on how to develop strategy and policies for growth. I work across the private and not-for-profit sectors and have recently done extensive work on skills strategy and policy, with a particular emphasis on how to develop skills and jobs that will be needed in the economy of the future. Before starting my own business I held senior leadership positions in the commercial and public service arms of the BBC and in the independent television sector.
I’ve lived in the Marlborough area for 15 years: the town has given a lot to me and my family and I want to give back to it.
Why I’m Standing:
I’m standing to give voters in Marlborough West a choice. Wiltshire Council has been run by the Conservatives for the last 25 years. It’s time for fresh voices and fresh perspectives. As a Labour member of Wiltshire Council I would use my voice to speak up for those who have been ignored by the council for more than 2 decades. I’d be a strong voice for action on policies that are vital to people’s lives now and in the future: decent, affordable housing; opportunities for young people; reliable local services; a green economy and protection for our environment; effective public transport; usable roads. We see the challenges that council neglect in these areas has created for Marlborough – and the whole of Wiltshire. I also want to use my own experience in creating economic growth to be a champion for the future economic success of Marlborough and this region of Wiltshire. We deserve strong local businesses, good jobs and a powerful platform for our future prosperity.
