The annual Chief Constable’s Parade, staged at the school’s Theatre on the Hill rewarded the efforts of Special Constables with officers receiving long service medals and bars, commendations, certificates of service and independent patrol certificates.
The event was hosted Pat Geenty, Wiltshire’s Chief Constable, who presented the awards alongside the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, William Wyldbore-Smith and the Under Sheriff, Lady Sarah Gooch.
Malmesbury’s Richard Warren was given the lifetime achievement award for over 40 years service to local policing. Others recognised by the Force were David Lee from Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge’s Alan Petrie. The pair each received a long service medal bar after serving over 20 years as Special Constables for Wiltshire Police.
Lee Hitt from Swindon, who named Special Constable of the Year, will represent the Force next week at the Arthur Ellis awards which honours the work of Specials in the region.
Special Constabulary Chief Officer Richard Palusinski told Marlborough News Online: “This was another outstanding event which helped to highlight the amazing work of all of our Specials. Every single person was fully deserving of their nomination and it once again shows just how important the role of the Special Constabulary is to the Force.
“I would also like to extend my thanks to St John’s School in Marlborough for allowing us the use of their wonderful facilities”
