The new IT equipment, which includes laptops, chrome books and touchscreen ‘whiteboard’ monitors for each classroom, were purchased following extensive fundraising during the last academic year which saw the Friends of Chilton Foliat Primary School raise an impressive £6,500 for the school through its many events. It is hoped that the new equipment will help inspire class interaction and knowledge sharing and make lessons more exciting, as well as provide the pupils with up-to-date tools for the computing curriculum.

Some thoughts on the new laptops and chrome books from the children include:
Charlie: “It’s technology and children love technology.”
Lilyanna: “It’s gives us extra help and you can challenge yourself.”
Ollie: “It’s awesome because the laptops and chrome books are small and light, not heavy.”
The children also love the new large and interactive touchscreen whiteboards:
Marius: “It’s easier to learn because everyone can see it and you can touch it to change things and move up and down.”
Maia: “You can write on it with your finger and you can interact with it.”
Lilyanna: “It’s great for sums because you can do your working out on it and it corrects mistakes easily.”
The fundraising goal for the 2017-18 academic year is to raise funds for new, up-to-date and inspiring classroom furniture for a classroom due for physical expansion and then other classrooms. The classroom currently fits 22 children, however the school would like it to be fit for purpose and comfortably seat 30 pupils with a sink area and cloakroom. Fundraising events will include a Bonfire Night, Christmas Fair, Safari Supper, Sponsored Walk and Summer Fete.
