Marlborough lost their first league game in over a year on Saturday in a hard fought game against Combe Down.
Both sides were up for a close encounter after first week league wins. Early penalties were swapped before Combe got hold of the game, aided by some poor handling by Marlborough. They scored two unconverted tries in the first half for a 13-3 lead.
Although some strange decisions were made by the referee the Marlborough side again failed to learn last weeks lessons and suffered two players being sent to the sin bin.
This cost the team any momentum, although on top with the forwards, they failed to capitalise and Combe Down won all the crucial scrums just as the home side looked to push home territorial advantage.
Russ Westcott ran in one very good try under the posts to close the deficit and with Bruce Vuentatotoka’s conversion the score was 13-10 to the away team.
However, Marlborough were unable to score again and the Bath side celebrated their win. Click on any pic to enlarge
