Just four years ago sixteen-year old Natasha Chapman’s main interest was swimming. Then she went along to a ‘Try Golf for Free’ week at Marlborough Golf Club – and she was hooked.
Now Natasha is an active member of the Marlborough Juniors with a handicap of eight.
Marlborough Golf Club is again running a ‘Try Golf for Free Week’ from Monday, May 19 to Saturday, May 24 as part of English Golf’s national ‘Get into Golf’ campaign.
The aim is to give people who have never tried golf before an opportunity to pick up a club and have a go. Simon Amor, the club professional, will be on hand to provide expert tuition.
There are separate events for Juniors, Girls, Ladies, Adults and Families. There is also a special ‘Get Back into Golf’ session for those who have played before and want to pick up where they left off – or even further back.
Particular emphasis this year is on attracting more young people like Natasha into golf. Marlborough Golf Club already has a thriving Junior section, but they would like to see more young people taking up the game.
The ‘Try Golf for Free’ week gives them an ideal opportunity. To book a place contact Simon Amor on 01672 512493.
The week will be preceded by an Open House Day on Wednesday, May 14 when interested golfers are invited to come along and find out more about the club. Enjoy a free coffee, a guided tour of the club and a chance to enter a chipping competition.
