Richard Hannon’s Herridge Racing Stables at Collingbourn Ducis are celebrating the trainer’s first Classic win with a stunning victory in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket (May 3.)
Night of Thunder, a 40-1 outsider, was ridden to victory by 49 year-old Kieren Fallon – his fifth success in the race. Night of Thunder beat the favourite Kingman and the other fancied entry Australia, by less than a length.
It was only in January that Richard Hannon took over the yards at Herridge and Everleigh from his father, Richard Hannon Senior.
Night of Thunder will now be entered for the Irish Guineas. And the Hannon trained Shifting Power (fourth in the 2,000 Guineas under Frankie Detttori) may go in the Derby.
