Over fifty students in Years 7 to 12 are participating in the St John’s Academy production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The play will be performed at 6 pm on Tuesday 9 July, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11.
Mrs Matyla, Head of Drama told marlborough.news, “The play is a reduced version of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. It is in modern dress and set in six different locations around the school. The actors lead the audience to the different locations. In order to involve as many students as possible there are three different Romeos and three different Juliets. Each pair perform a third of the play each night.”
Mrs Matyla said she was inspired to produce a promenade performance of the play after attending a Christmas play in a local village where a shepherd led the audience to different locations for different scenes.
