Two women members of Marlborough Town Council are to take over as the Mayor when Councillor Guy Loosmore completes his term in May.
There was just the one nomination of Councillor Marian Hannaford-Dobson, the current deputy mayor, at this week’s meeting of the Town Council, nominated by Councillor Loosmore and seconded by Councillor Alec Light.
“Thank you very much for your support,” Councillor Hannaford-Dobson, who is a Conservative member, told her colleagues. “I shall endeavour to carry on the good work that Guy has done during his year.”
There was also a single nomination for Marlborough’s new deputy mayor, Councillor Margaret Rose, who, as is the tradition, is expected to follow as Marlborough’s Mayor for 2015-16.
She was proposed by former Mayor Councillor Alexander Kirk Wilson, seconded by Councillor Bryan Castle, and is too a Conservative member of the Town Council.
“I look forward to supporting Councillor Marian Hannaford-Dobson and I hope she has an amazing year,” said Councillor Rose.
