For the first time in living memory, St George’s Preshute is holding a Family Fête in the beautiful riverside location of its churchyard. The church is delighted that Cllr Mark Luson, Mayor of Marlborough, will be opening the fête, which is being held on Saturday 13 June between 12.30 and 4pm. It’s an opportunity for St George’s to open its doors to the local community and all are welcome to what is sure to be a fun-filled afternoon for all the family.
Entry to the event is free and ample parking is available in the church car park. Children can test their talents (for a small charge) with ‘Beat the Goalie’, ‘Welly-wanging’ or ‘Hook a Duck’, have their face painted or take a chance with the ‘Lucky Dip’. For the young and young at heart, the duck race on the River Kennet will be keenly contested and there will be plenty of stalls (books, bottles, plants, local craft) for all to browse as well as a silent auction with a range of exciting ‘lots’.
If you’re feeling peckish, a lunchtime BBQ or the tea tent will cater for your needs, and an ice cream van will provide extra treats.
Throughout the afternoon, there will also be the chance to see the church in action: hear the bells ringing and give it a go yourself, listen to organ music and discover how the instrument works, watch our ‘Open the Book’ team acting out a Bible story, find out about the wildlife in the churchyard on our Eco Church stall and take part in a craft activity with Messy Church.
We look forward to seeing you there!
