After Wadworths’ decision to sell the Three Horseshoes at Stibb Green, Burbage, the village’s High Street free house, the White Hart, is now on the market at a guide price for the freehold of £480,000.
Described by the agents, Christie and Co of Bristol, as an ‘unopposed village pub near Marlborough’. The White Hart is a ‘Non food pub’ and agent says there is ‘scope to introduce food’ and it is being sold as a going concern.
It is thought there has been a pub on this site since 1710. The original pub was destroyed in a fire and the present building dates from 1923. It was bought by the present owners in 2013 and refurbished. These works apparently included the removal of the kitchen.
The pub’s accounts show net sales of £114,556 for the year to the end of March 2017 with an adjusted net profit of £37,714. The current owners believe the 2018 figures will show a profit of about £45,000.
The business rates are nil due to small business rate relief.
At present the pub is open only in the evenings seven days a week.
A feature of the sale notice is the high standard of the owners’ accommodation.
