

At last night’s (Monday 16 October) meeting of the Town Council Planning Committee, Councillors voted unanimously not just to approve the Planning Application but to support it, making the planners at Wiltshire Council clearly aware of the depth of local opinion. Since last Wednesday evening (11 October) the number of Comments for this application on the Wiltshire Council Planning Website has grown to more than 130, possibly a record number for any application, all of which are wholeheartedly supportive of the proposal for the awning to return. A Planning application has been submitted for the return of the Marquee / Awning that graced the apron of The Parade Cinema, making this area useable at all times irrespective of weather. It It disappeared recently by demand from Wiltshire Council.
The application is for ‘Full Planning Permission’ and if successful will allow the canopy to be in place for all but two months of the year. The Application details are: PL/2023/0783.
