The first cheque, for £342, presented by Ian Burdekin was raised for the Marlborough Christmas Lights appeal as part of the Waitrose ‘Community Matters’ green token scheme, where shoppers place tokens in the box of their choice, with £1,000 being divided up between three good causes every month in the proportion iof tokens in each of the three boxes.

Mayor Lisa thanked Waitrose for their support adding: “We are very grateful for everything that Waitrose does to support Marlborough. The Community Matters Green Token Scheme is such a good initiative. It’s one that invites people to choose which local charities, good causes, events and activities that they would like to support. I, personally, am delighted at how it has helped my mayoral charities as well as the Marlborough Community Youth Project. Many thanks to Waitrose and all those who gave us those green discs.”
