In St Peter’s on next Friday evening – 21 April – Marlborough will be bought alive by the deep, Georgian-inspired harmonies and serious silliness of the Magnificent Men of Ashton Keynes as they bring fun, comedy and harmonies to the beautiful space that is the former church at the western end of the High St.
‘The Magnificent AKs’ will once more be showing they can truly live up to the claim of perhaps being the best all bloke singing troupe ever to escape from the depths of North West Wiltshire. And doing it in another bit of North Wiltshire, Marlborough.
It’s not just in Wiltshire that they are well known. Over the past decade or so the ‘singing blokes of Ashton Keynes’ have been performing all over, major venues such as London’s ‘Roundhouse’ and what used to be Bristol’s ‘Colston Hall’, as well as many venues in Ireland and other places, whilst also reaching a far wider audience on BBC’s Radio 3.
Around here it’s not just in St Peter’s that they are heard. They also bring singing to Pewsey, and run a weekend singing event for those wanting to sing from there as well. Called ‘Blokefest’, so watch out for that as well.
Tickets now on sale – see the poster in ‘Events’, £12 per head.
