On Sunday 21 May at Marlborough College the Schools Triathlon, involving more than 1,000 children from schools in and around Marlborough including Ramsbury, St Marys, St Katharines and Preshute will be taking place again. Organisers Restless Development are calling out for volunteers to help
The Schools Triathlon Series is organised and run by Restless Development, a global non-profit agency, ‘that supports the collective power of young people to create a more sustainable world’.
Last year, the Schools Triathlon Series raised an incredible £653,620 and with match funding from the UK government the total raised was £1.2 million. This money raised will support Restless Development’s Power Up Project, which will help thousands of girls in Sierra Leone claim their right to an education and build their own future.
Volunteers will be there to support the young triathletes as they swim, cycle and run for charity. No experience needed, just helping the children onto their bikes and greeting them as they arrive at the event. It is a great way to engage with the community and meet new people. All volunteers will receive refreshments, ice cream on (hopefully) a sunny afternoon and be given a free Restless t-shirt.
Volunteering roles include:
- Meet and greeting the children and parents
- Helping the children with their bikes in the transition zone
- Stewarding and marshalling
- Helping on the run course
