Marlborough Community Choir is going from strength to strength and to accommodate the growing numbers it is moving to a larger venue. The choir is also changing the day it rehearses to Tuesdays. The new term begins on Tuesday 22nd April. The choir will be meeting at St Mary’s Primary School hall, in Duck’s Meadow, off George Lane, Marlborough. There is ample car parking and it is within walking distance of town.
Marlborough Community Choir is run by Emma Pooley, who says, “If you are interested in joining the choir, do let us know and we can arrange for you to join us one week for a taster session. The overall atmosphere at rehearsals is great, with plenty of enthusiasm, laughter, and kindness. We have about 60 singers in the choir and newcomers are always welcome. Each session lasts 7.30-9 p.m.
If you would like to come and join us, do please get in touch with me, emmapooley@btinternet.com, or our secretary, Alan Pryor, on pryoral@gmail.com.”
The choir had a busy Christmas season, performing at St Peter’s Church Christmas Fair, Kennet u3a Christmas coffee morning in Marlborough Town Hall and a Christmas Concert, also in St Peter’s Church, to raise funds for Ukraine.
This summer the choir will again be taking part in a ‘Sing-a-thon’ to raise money for the Great Western Hospital’s ‘Brighter Futures’ charity on Saturday 21st June. They have also been invited to sing for an afternoon tea party in Lockeridge to celebrate the clients and the volunteers who work on behalf of the Marlborough and District LINK Scheme.
