The 2024 Hope and Homes for Children Carol Concert and Service which took place in Marlborough College Chapel on Saturday December 14 has raised a whopping £7320 to support the work of the charity. The charity’s slogan is Back to Family. Hope and Homes works to find alternative, high quality family based care for vulnerable children, who otherwise would be in orphanages. Their work is now recognized as best practice by UNICEF and the World Health Organisation.
The Vale of Pewsey Hope and Homes for Children Support Group would like to thank all those who attended and all who helped to make the event such a success. Alison Netherclift, from the support Group, told Marlborough.news, “BBC Junior Chorister of the year 2023, Belinda Gifford-Guy sang two solos. A few days before our concert, Belinda was a soloist at the Salvation Army Carol Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. There were carols for all with organist Chris De Souza, plus Great Bedwyn Millenium choir with Musical Director Fiona MacArthur, The BlueBelles A Cappella Group, young flautist, Beth Brown and the Great Bedwyn and Oare Children’s Choir.
Revd Colin Heber-Percy lead the event and read the Address on behalf of Hope and Homes for Children’s CEO Mark Waddington.
We would also like to thank our main sponsor, Haine and Smith, and other sponsors, Rick Stein and Berkshire Trout. Thanks also to Kim Vine and The Whitehorse Bookshop for selling tickets for us.
Our Carol Concert next year will be on the Saturday the 13th December at 4.00pm.”
