Marlborough’s First Team ended up at the top of their league, the Division 2 of the Wilts Scratch League, gaining promotion to the top flight for next season.
“A hugely successful season.” noted Men’s First Team Captain, Jon Copp. Adding: “The squad has shown full commitment throughout the season, fielding a strong line up for each match. It has been so refreshing to see this diverse group of super talented individuals, including our most promising juniors, coming together and building such a powerful team dynamic. It has been a privilege to manage the squad this year and together we look forward to the challenge ahead in our quest to become County Champions.
“An impressive 30 players made themselves available for selection from our top 50 on the handicap list. In total 18 players represented the 1st Team in the six Wilts league matches and finals day.”
Jon also noted the success of the individuals within the team: “Three members of the Marlborough 1st Team squad have represented Wiltshire in the 2024 County Championships – congratulations to Dom Seaman, Lewy Hayward & Freddie Timbrell-Titcombe.
“And a special call out for Lewy who, playing under the banner of Marlborough GC, won two prestigious junior titles in 2024: ‘The Midland Youth Championships’ and ‘The West of England U18 Open’, along with representing England U18s in the Home Internationals, which they won – and of course becoming Marlborough Club Champion 2024!”
