The accident occurred last Saturday (21 November) between 10.30 and 11am. It took place adjacent to the Ivy Lane junction which is a notoriously narrow and twisty section of the road through Lockeridge.
The vehicle involved was a silver Vauxhall Zafira, and was travelling south through the village. The driver escaped injury. The pedestrian was walking in the road with his dog (no pavement in this part of the road) on the Ivy Lane side when he was hit.
According to the Police he suffered serious head injuries and is now in Southmead hospital in Bristol, having been transferred from the Great Western in Swindon.
The road was closed for several hours whilst Police examined the scene. Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
