A marlborough.news reader, who lives in The Parade sent us the above pic and asked if we could help in getting this unchipped cat back to it’s owner. It has been visiting this premises in The Parade for a while, not quite taking up residence but almost. Seems to like the garden. Our correspondent is concerned also that the cat has seemed to develop some form of skin condition, so this may already be something under treatment by a vet.
The cat has been visiting The Parade for some while now. Ironically, on Monday (10 June) a law was passed which made chipping all cats mandatory. Unfortunately this cat hasn’t yet been chipped, otherwise finding the owner would be a straightforward task.
Our correspondent has leafletted properties nearby but as any cat owner will tell you, their ‘area’ can be extensive and not easily judged. Some cats will regularly ‘patrol’ and area of a quarter mile radius or even more.
Also, whereas dogs are pets, and an ‘owner’ is exactly that – in charge of a dog, with a cat is the other way round. They own us. They make up their minds what they want to do, where they want to go, and that’s what they then do. It’s is possible (very likely?) that the householder where this cat has come from may well be missing it, with no idea as to whether he/she is OK, or even still alive. So if you recognise this cat as yours, or of someone near to you who may be missing their cat, please e-mail our correspondent below so that the cat and ‘owner’ can be reunited. And then chipped…… (cat, not owner!)
