Devizes Young Farmers’ annual Tractor ‘n Tinsel run to raise money for charity left Devizes in drizzle but by the time they reached Marlborough the sun was shining and Marlborough was rammed with families and young children excited to greet them. The 200 decorated tractors participating were divided into groups of 30, each group making a noisy arrival with the honking and hooting of horns and raucous tunes. With many vintage tractors taking part the procession was an education in the history of the tractor. If you didn’t manage to make a contribution there’s still time. Click here to donate.
Luke Pearce, Chairman of Devizes Young Farmers, and his colleagues were busy directing traffic, collecting donations and making sure everything ran smoothly.
Luke said, “I’m very pleased with how things are going and I hope this is going to be a bumper year in terms of the amount of money we raise for our chosen charities Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Oracle and the Stroke Association.
The run now has a place in my heart due to it providing the money to fund these vitally important charities. There is a great crowd here today and some fantastic decorations on the tractors. I hope you gave us a wave and remember whenever you see a farmer make sure you say thank you. It makes our day.”
The decorated tractors returned to Devizes Marketplace at 15.00 ready for their illuminated Night Run at 17.00.
