“An amazing number” stated Club Chairman Stuart Slater, “It was only less than a couple of years back that we celebrated with our 400th player joining” he added.

Charlie Carter is the 500th player to join Marlborough Youth Football Club (MYFC), maybe he’ll be the new U7’s Cristiano Ronaldo suggested Stuart.
MYFC’s U7’s administrator, Hannah, explains: “What an amazing achievement. Charlie has settled in well with the team and has had his first match which he was so excited about. We celebrated him being the 500th player with donuts and Haribo!”. Charlie’s Mum, Donna, added, “Thank you to everyone for making us all feel so welcome at the club. Although Charlie is still very new to football, he is thoroughly enjoying the sessions and very much looks forward to the training sessions each week. Everyone is so friendly and the coaches do a fantastic job…especially given the number of little people that they have to manage!”
Marlborough Youth Football Club now has 32 league registered teams and over one third of their 500 players play in the girls’ football side of the club (MYFC Angels).
At the other end of the scale MYFC offer walking football for those who wish to continue the beautiful game through age or injury, and overall, the club only functions as a result of a remarkable c.100 volunteers. Stuart is best positioned to summarise this growth, “We have only really sought to accommodate a consistent demand for football; we have not targeted growth, or new players simply for the sake of it—we are clearly doing something right! It’s what people want. It is in this context that we welcome Charlie, the flag bearer for another generation of new footballers and, as with all our players, we look forward to seeing him progress”.
