A farm for children with special needs is set to close if it doesn’t find a new home by July. Dave Buscombe, who runs Dave & Ewe Farm near Calne, is looking for a new location and around 10 acres of land, preferably in North Wiltshire, for his enterprise which provides therapeutic farm sessions. He has been told they must leave their current location and he desperately needs somewhere he can move to. Ideally there would be buildings to provide shelter for the animals. Anything will be considered, even as a temporary stop gap while a longer-term home is found.
The farm has been running for 12 years and has helped numerous children. Dave commented, “When I started working with a Special Educational Needs and Disability(SEND) school using some of my animals it was clear that they enriched the lives of the children and their families. Animals are non-judgemental and do not have prejudice, they are a calming influence and can be used to teach simple rules to promote attachment and relationship building. This process builds confidence in the subject as they form a bond with animals and develop life-skills.”
The farm has alpacas, chickens, donkeys, ducks, goats, guinea pigs, pigs, ponies, rabbits and sheep together with waiting list of children who would benefit from a therapeutic session interacting with the animals.

Please note the farm is currently unable to take enquiries for new children to attend.
