A little while ago – afternoon of Saturday 06 November – Thames Water issued an update statement regarding the water shortage, caused by a burst water main which has been affecting all those living to the West of Marlborough and in the villages further West along the River Kennet.
“We’re sorry to anyone who suffered disruption due to a damaged 7-inch diameter water pipe on the Bath Road.
Our engineers worked hard to reroute the network and get all customers back in to supply before starting the repair. They worked throughout the night to complete it and the water main is being disinfected to ensure we meet water quality requirements.
Two out of three lanes are closed at the burst location, there are three-way traffic lights in place to keep the traffic moving. We will be in the area for a few more days to ensure our teams can work safely complete their work.”
We’re aware of an incident on the road close to the burst site and are working with police to establish what happened.”
As soon as we hear more we will provide further information, but it would appear that supplies aren’t going to be fully restored for a little while. The damaged pipe is quite a major main, about the diameter of a small football.
Thames Water have created a limited supply by water tanker to those on the network that can get that pressure and have also supplied bottled water to other residents where supply is even more limited
