Next Saturday, November 13, the Stand Sure Orchestra and Choir will be performing Mozart’s Requiem in St John’s Church, Pewsey at 8 pm (doors open 7.30pm). This is the inaugural concert for the Pewsey based orchestra and choir which only met for the first time, under the baton of musical director Chris Anderson, at the beginning of September.
Chris told Marlborough.news, “Mozart’s Requiem is his enduring, albeit incomplete, masterpiece. We are delighted to be able to perform it in the glorious St John’s Church in Pewsey. Following the trying times of Covid and coupled with the Royal British Legion commemorating 100 years of service it felt a fitting piece to perform in memory of those who passed away throughout the pandemic but also as a remembrance for our Armed Forces past and present.
I’m super excited and enthusiastic. The idea of running my own orchestra and choirs (there’s a new Youth Choir too) has been my dream for nearly 30 years. When we went into lockdown I started planning and preparing and now it’s happening!”
Entry to Mozart’s Requiem will be by donation only but you can still purchase a ticket in advance, click here. A retiring collection for the Royal British Legion will be taken
Stand Sure Orchestras and Choirs have the ethos of allowing anyone who wants the opportunity to play and sing the chance to do so. “This,” says Chris, “gives us a unique sound which we are particularly proud of.”
