Textiles and Stitch Around Marlborough have just completed its exciting second year of speakers, workshops and outings since it left the Embroiderers Guild in 2021.
Our current membership, which comes from a wide area of Wiltshire, has a wonderful variety of interests and therefore we have tried to include something for everyone.
This last year we welcomed speakers who have talked about felting, free machine embroidery, hand stitching, patchwork & quilting, applique and spinning and weaving. We have had “in house” workshops and those with tutors. The highlight of the year was last October when Kirstie Macleod brought The Red Dress (www.reddressembroidery.com) to Lockeridge, an event we will never forget. We also had a private viewing of the Robert Shaw Collection of Textiles at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
Looking forward we have an exciting programme of speakers (natural dyeing, history of a silk mill, South American costumes to name but a few), workshops (natural dyeing & eco printing, stitched selfie, and several “in house” workshops) and a 3 day exhibition of members’ work in June 2024 details of which you will find on our website: https://textilesandstitch.co.uk/events/
Membership for 2023-24 for the Textile and Stitch Around Marlborough is now open . The annual subscription will be £57.50 and this must be paid in August for year.
