Mrs Nicky Edmondson is resigning as Principal of St John’s Academy. She has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Excalibur Academies Trust – taking over from Dr Patrick Hazlewood who retires this summer.
Mrs Edmondson has been at St John’s for three years. Marlborough.news understands that there was an open appointment process to become the Trust’s new CEO.
The Excalibur Academies Trust has expanded from its St John’s base to include five local primary schools (Burbage, East Royal, Oare, Ogbourne and St Katherines in Savernake), Fairfield High School in Bristol and John O’Gaunt secondary school in Hungerford.
In her letter to St John’s parents, Mrs Edmondson says: “I will take up my new role in September, and one of my first and most important tasks will be to appoint a new Principal for St John’s who will build on very secure foundations to lead the academy on the next stage of its journey as an outstanding provider of education in Marlborough.”
“In the meantime, my Senior Vice Principal, Mr Miles Whittaker, will stand in as Principal, as he has done very successfully previously.”
