Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary which took place in Marlborough.
Between Monday 27 June and Tuesday 5 July 2016, a house in Priorsfield was broken into and a number of items were stolen including a flat screen television, a laptop and a pair of antique candlesticks.
PC Zoe Johnson said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area during these dates, who may have seen any suspicious activity to please get in touch with police immediately via 101.
“I would also like to issue a reminder to members of the public to please be vigilant regarding your own home security, and keep an eye on neighbours homes, especially at this time of year when a lot of people are on holiday. Report anything suspicious immediately. In an emergency call 999.”
Residents are also advised of the following home security measures:
- Lock all front and back doors when leaving home.
- Close and lock, if possible, any windows in rooms, regardless of how long you intend to be out and about.
- Inform the police of any suspicious activity in or around premises in your neighbourhood.
- When possible, record the registration numbers of any suspicious vehicles.
- Always take your keys out of your locks as thieves can reach in and open doors.
- Do not hide spare keys under door mats, plant pots etc, as offenders will always check these areas.
- Keep all valuables out of sight.
- Do not leave anything within reach of cat flaps, letter-boxes or windows as burglars may be able to access these using hooks.
