Marlborough’s Old Victorian Cemetery needs some friends – and there is a move afoot to form a friends group to look after this beautiful and historic place. The cemetery is on Frees Avenue, by the Common.
This Sunday (November 30) there will be a talk and walk through the cemetery with archaeologist Kim Wakeham. This starts at 10.00 am.
People will then have the opportunity to stay on for a couple of hours and help with some renovation work. The project is being arranged by Councillor Margaret Rose.
You are advised to wear appropriate clothes with gloves, stout shoes or boots. Some tools will be provided, but extra rakes, shears or secateurs will be welcome. And it might be a good plan to bring a flask of something warming to drink…
