Wiltshire Police’s monthly Farm Watch round-up says that of the 79 rural crimes reported during August, 48 offences were on farms.
Thefts of the red diesel, the farmers’ fuel, are growing – particularly in our area. Combine harvesters left in fields overnight are a target for these thieves.
During July and August twelve quadbikes and ten 4x4s (six of them Land Rovers) were stolen across the county – thirteen from farms.
As the harvest clears more fields of standing crops, there have been forty calls to police reporting hare coursing and poaching incidents.
