After nearly eight years of dedicated service, Toby Watson has stepped down from his role as Chair of Trustees of Excalibur Academies Trust, in order to focus on business commitments, with Susan Clarke elected as his successor.
During his tenure, Toby worked tirelessly behind the scenes as a passionate, experienced and committed leader. He played a pivotal role in shaping and developing the Trust, including providing leadership through the merger with Gatehouse Green Learning Trust, helping to establish Excalibur as an effective and sustainable large multi-academy trust.
Nick Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Excalibur Academies Trust comments: “We are extremely grateful for the significant contribution that Toby has made over the past eight years. His leadership, insight and commitment have been instrumental in the Trust’s growth and success, and we thank him sincerely for all he has done.”
Excalibur is delighted that Susan Clarke has been elected as its new Chair of Trustees. A founding member of Excalibur, Susan served as Vice Chair and brings considerable experience in leading and managing complex organisations within the public sector.
Commenting on her appointment, Susan says: “As Chair of Excalibur, my focus will be to ensure that all children receive the best possible education with diversity, inclusivity and fairness at the heart of our work.”
Nick Lewis adds: “I am delighted to welcome Susan to her new role as Chair of Trustees. Her experience and values will ensure strong governance as we continue to build on our success and serve our communities.”
