Sirs,
The picnic held on the Public Open Space between Barton Park and College Fields on the 4thSeptember was a resounding success.
The British weather was kind and it was lovely to see such community spirit and a real mix of ages, there was a great atmosphere, laughter, music and games. It was the perfect way to get to know your neighbours in a relaxed and informal way.
This public open space is a heavily used area by the community for a variety of functions and has stunning views over the Wansdyke. A small proportion of this has been left to grow wild with a view to encouraging wild flowers.
It’s hoped that this community spirit will help lead to the creation of a new Residents Association to cover College Fields, Manton Hollow, Barton Park and the adjacent stretch of the A4.
A public meeting will be held shortly with the aim of establishing the Residents Association which every household in the area will be invited to join (and have a vote) so that everyone can have their say.
Yours,
Ali Chick
