Community groups across Wiltshire are being urged to apply for autumn Community Foundation grants of up to £5,000 before the application deadline on October 17.
The grants are available to support and maintain organisations that make a difference to local communities. Recipients don’t need to be registered charities, so long as they are based in Wiltshire, benefit Wiltshire residents, and have a constitution and bank account.
Recently funded projects include The Wiltshire Barn Project, a charity set up to harness the therapeutic qualities of craft bookbinding to deliver therapy, training, qualifications, work experience and employment opportunities for wounded, injured and sick veterans.
The Project provides three levels of support: craft-based therapy using bookbinding skills as a medium, training in bookbinding skills leading to City & Guilds qualifications, and work experience within a social enterprise extending to offers of part- and full-time work.
The Project manages an annual schedule of occupational therapy periods, qualification courses and part time employment within a fully functioning training-workshop.
