Martin Wright has crowned his ten years as Head Coach at Pewsey tennis Club by winning the Lawn Tennis Association’s prestigious Coach of the Month award. It is an award that seeks out those working for the good of the game from across the nation.
Martin, who also coaches at Marlborough College, has set up many successful programmes for members at Pewsey Tennis Club and has seen junior coaching grow to more than 150 players on court per week and membership increase by a quarter.
He has also established school programmes with four local primary schools to help grow the game in the area.
Martin said: “I feel extremely privileged to have won the Aegon coach of the month award. I have been coaching at Pewsey Tennis Club for many years and it will always be a very special place to me.”
“I enjoy all aspects of my job and the variety it brings being able to work with all ages and all abilities. I find it really rewarding being able to provide pupils with a skill for life.”
The Club’s Chairman, Colin Gratton, told Marlborough News Online: “This a much deserved accolade for a local boy who fulfilled his dream at Pewsey Tennis Club.”
Martin will collect his award at the National Tennis centre at Roehampton on May 27.
