Having topped their league the first year they entered it, losing only one league game and scoring 114 goals while conceding just 24, the Marlborough Ladies 1st XI duly won the club’s team of the year award.
It was presented at the club’s end of season dinner by Alex Scott of TH White – who sponsored the award.
Meanwhile the club’s reputation for encouraging younger players continues. Six Marlborough Juniors were selected from the Wiltshire Junior Academy Centre to progress through to the Junior Regional Performance Centre training sessions held at Bristol for the best juniors from Avon, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Wiltshire.
They will be training throughout June, July and August in the hope of selection to represent the West of England at next year’s Futures Cup.
