With England Hockey Clubfirst accreditation held since 2006, Marlborough Hockey Club are now one of the first clubs in the west of England to have been awarded England Hockey’s Clubmark accreditation.
The England Hockey Clubmark is designed to be a minimum operating standard for Clubs to ensure they are functioning properly. It has been developed in conjunction with Sport England’s Clubmark accreditation system, to be hockey specific.
It shows that a club provides the right environment to ensure the welfare of members and encourage everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.
Marlborough HC’s ethos is to be a club that provides hockey for all the family – a club for life. This has driven the club’s continued effort for excellence in its management, coaching and volunteering to ensure that the club experience of each member – be they seven or seventy, playing, coaching or supporting – is the best it can be.
With a junior section of over 330 under 18’s, 80-plus seniors, three men’s and three ladies league teams and a growing Back2Hockey group, the club endeavours to deliver fun and engaging playing opportunities to all.
The coaches and captains are DBS checked and attend training courses and workshops run by England Hockey.
Our older teenagers are encouraged to help within the club and a growing number have attended coaching workshops and obtained umpiring qualifications. They are happy to assist with junior training and festivals on Sundays.
With their sons and daughters enjoying hockey, parents are now turning up to the Tuesday evening Back2Hockey session. Mixed hockey is played across all ages with tournaments for the juniors and a mixed summer league for the seniors.
It really is ‘sport for all’. If you can be involved in a growing, successful and local club – details are on the Club website.
